With summer starting in just a few days, we Laredoans will return to our natural habitat of cursing at the triple digit temperatures and wishing it was winter again. But just because it’s scorching hot outside doesn’t mean your food should be as well! Let’s leave the caldo de res for winter and opt for something cooler like our beloved childhood favorite — avocados!
Let’s be real, who doesn’t love avocados? The great thing about them is that they’re so versatile: They can spice up your salads, cool down a too-spicy salsa, give the bougie millennial an Instagram worthy pic of their avocado toast … the possibilities are truly endless.
Here at DVINO, we’ve assembled a list of some of our favorite Laredo restaurants to satisfy all our avocado cravings. Let’s eat!
This wouldn’t be an avocado list without the classic Avocado Toast. Head down to Scratch Sandwich Co to pick yours up! P.S. It’s served on a thick multi-grain toast with sesame seeds and arugula for all your Instagram foodie aesthetic needs.
If you want to give the classic torta a spin, head over to Lolita’s Bistro for a Slow and Low Brisket Barbacoa Torta. Complimenting their mouth-watering barbacoa are savory black beans and ripe avocado slices that are truly the cherry on top equivalent to any torta.
Now listen… if you’ve been swiping left and right and are tired of getting ghosted time and time again, take your (potential) significant other to El Mesón de San Agustín. There’s no better way to impress someone than by the universal language of love — Flautas de Pollo con crema de aguacate. If that doesn’t work, you can always slip a love potion en su sopita de fideo 💅🏼
If you haven’t worked on your summer body yet, worry not — the best place to indulge on some yummy post-workout meals is without a doubt Sushi Madre. Both their Chicken Avocado or Salmon Avocado Plates are topped with thinly sliced avocado, and sit on a bed of steamed veggies or a side of asparagus. If you haven’t already, give ‘em a try! You’ll be able to indulge in a delicious meal while saving your cheat day for later.
Y a los que no les importa la dieta:
The one… the only… the original bad bitch that needs to introduction — Los Panchos de Taco Palenque. Honestly, need I say more?
